A complete record in chronological order of the events whereby James II tried to force on the College a President of his choosing, totally against the wishes of the College who had their own choice. A letter to the Duke of Ormonde failed to help, and Fairfax along with other Fellows were expected from the College. All were restored to their positions on the abdication of the King. Wing F 125.

  AL returning (to a publisher) a manuscript of Mr. Gough’s, containing a portion of Strabo translated, and requesting that it be forwarded to Mr. Gough. He also refers to “the various directions his active mind had taken in the field of learning”.

Thomas Falconer (1772-1839) classical writer, editor of “Strabonus Rerum Geographicum” (1807). Richard Gough (1735-1809) Antiquary. The publisher was most likely to have been the firm of John Nichols, who published most of Gough’s publications.
