A Satire on the support of some Staffordshire Sportsmen who were sympathisers with the Jacobite cause. Even the females at their assemblies and sporting races affected to wear the chequered stuff by which the Pretender and his followers were distinguished. The Lichfield Races were held annually in September and on Whittington Heath.
