Corbet Owen (1646-1671), Latin Poet, Scholar of Christ Church, Oxford (described as a strange student), later studied medicine, but died shortly after qualifying. A long, very artificial and confused poem in Latin verse, chiefly in irregular metres imitating Pindar's Odes. Strange words and phrases are employed, with a weird use of italics. Samuel Johnson later said that in this poem "all kinds of verse are shaken together".Wing O 702. Madan 2816
